Somatic Experiencing + Somatic Psychotherapy

A body-based path to healing, regulation, and reconnection.

®

After trauma, chronic stress, or high-stakes experiences like birth or loss, our nervous systems adapt to keep us safe—but sometimes they stay stuck in survival mode. Somatic psychotherapy helps us tune into the body's messages and gently begin to shift patterns of overwhelm, freeze, or reactivity.

Emotions aren’t just thoughts—we feel them. A racing heart, a clenched jaw, a sudden stillness...the body gives us cues long before the mind catches up.

Why the body matters:

what somatic therapy looks like

Somatic Experiencing® (SE) is a trauma-informed, body-centered therapy that blends curiosity, slow tracking of physical sensation, and (when helpful) gentle somatic touch.

Your therapist may ask questions like:

“What happens in your body as you say that?”

“Do you notice any sensation or tension right now?”

“Let’s pause here—what’s showing up for you physically?”

The goal isn’t to relive your trauma—it’s to help your body complete the protective responses it couldn’t at the time. You move at your own pace, with your therapist gently guiding you toward greater awareness, capacity, and safety.

Touch can support deep repair—especially for those whose trauma began in early attachment or physical rupture. You’ll always be invited into this work at your own pace, with full collaboration and choice.

We have SE trained clinicians who are also trained in Somatic Touch, a therapeutic, consent-based practice that offers gentle, supportive contact to help regulate the nervous system.

the role of somatic touch

1. To Suvive
2. To Connect

Somatic psychotherapy helps restore your nervous system’s ability to do both. Through tracking sensation, slowing down, and learning how your body communicates safety or distress, you begin to rebuild a relationship with yourself—from the inside out.

The Goal of Somatic Psychotherapy

our bodies want two things:

it's from this grounded place that connection, healing, and joy can return.
